Freeman

provides support for this child

Freeman was found working as a child slave on an island surrounding Lake Volta in the summer of 2008. He was working alongside his brother, Felix, and his sister, Emefa. Freeman was one of the youngest children working on the island; he appeared to be only four or five years old. He was often found working without any clothing on, and he seemed to be suffering from malnutrition.

Freeman and his siblings were rescued out of slavery six months later, early in 2009. They adjusted to life in Touch A Life’s care extremely well, likely due to the fact that they had each other for company and stability. They became quite the trio, and they all enjoyed meeting new friends at the facility and enrolling in school for the first time.

Since then, Freeman has morphed into a darling young boy. He has the most contagious laugh (he sounds just like Elmo!) and he loves spending time with his siblings and his friends. He is one of the youngest children in Touch A Life’s care but he acts as if he is one of the oldest! Freeman is a leader in the house, and he does well in school. One thing we especially love about Freeman is his amazing name, and the implication it now has – he truly is a free man.

Thanks to support from people like you, Freeman is living a life of purpose, happiness, and freedom.
